Kleek Recordings Sampler

These are some tracks I have been working on,  hopefully they will see the light of day in the not too distant future. There are 3 in total that have been put together in a mini-megamix stylee. The video was a promo for the first release on the label and so the track names on the vinyl do not match up to the sounds that are playing, I was just experimenting but rather than discarding it I thought I’d share it.

Omar S - Wayne County Hills Cops

Omar S - Wayne County Hills Cops

FXHE

Its just past the first month of the year and this has got all the markings of a track of the year contender for me. I am not an out and out Omar S fan, that is to say I dont buy everything he puts out but when I look at the catalogue of his tracks I have picked up over the years there are so many for me that are already classics. He has an unmistakable sound, no one else can do Omar S. The beauty of his work for me is the simplicity of it, pure analogue sound that never comes across as overworked or over  produced. There is a low fi rawness to his style that so much over polished house music is lacking in these days. The Omar S remix is the cut for me, a deadly and catchy hook reels you in, the lazy claps and crisp hats ride the rhythm and the simple bass underpins some beautifully appregiated synth notes. I was hooked the first time I heard it.

                                                          Side a

'Wherever you go' is a deep underground house track with simple melodies and a melancholy hook that gets right under your skin. The track builds around an emotive piano lead, subtle textures and a killer sub bass. Swashes of reverb and eerie tones underpin a gentle driving rhythm.

                                                          Side b
'Second hand woman' Is a slow burning acid track with a simple groove and

a tripped out backdrop. The main synth line develops over a creeping bass
that morphs into an sinister acid line fulled with crashing 909 hats and
refined rhythms.

Just stumbled across this yesterday ,never heard of this artist before on what is a quality first release on this new label. 'Mid Blue' and Red Dust ' are the stand out tracks on this four track ep .Simple basslines and crisp hats play out to a backdrop of spooky and etheral synths. Low-fi, spooky deepness in a similar vein to the STL label . Well worth a check.
